Principal Investigator
Assistant Professor

Dr. Eden Tanner's academic journey is a testament to her passion for pushing the boundaries of chemistry and its applications. She earned her undergraduate degree with Honors in Advanced Science, majoring in Chemistry, at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She then pursued her doctorate in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Oxford under the mentorship of Prof. Richard Compton. Her groundbreaking thesis, Nanoelectrochemistry in Room Temperature Ionic Liquids, reflects her early fascination with the transformative potential of ionic liquids.

Driven by her enthusiasm for these versatile materials, Dr. Tanner joined Harvard University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow under the guidance of Dr. Samir Mitragotri, further honing her expertise in cutting-edge biomedical applications. Since August 2020, she has been shaping the next generation of scientists as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Mississippi.

At the helm of the Tanner Lab, Dr. Tanner leads a vibrant team working at the nexus of Chemistry and Bioengineering. The lab is dedicated to tackling pressing biomedical challenges, with a primary focus on pioneering the use of ionic liquids in nanoparticle drug delivery systems to revolutionize therapeutic strategies.
