Madelyn Church
Madelyn is a fourth year Social Psychology graduate student in the Experimental Psychology program. She received her BS in psychology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a MA from The University of Mississippi. Madelyn primarily works with Dr. Grace Rivera in the Lay Beliefs and Culture lab, but is also a graduate student affiliate in the SHADE lab. Broadly, Madelyn's research interests focus on how individuals' beliefs about their identity influence their perceptions, motivations, and behavior. Her current research focuses on subjective perceptions of authenticity, how people: reflect on experiences of authenticity, use their true self to navigate situations, and perceive social support/pressures to be authentic. Outside the lab, you will probably catch Madelyn either spending time with friends or at home watching Big Brother with her cats, Artemis and Apollo.
