The Gulf Scholars Program has been busy these past few weeks with many guest speakers and plenty of interesting questions being raised to discuss. From water and waste management to AI data centers, the breadth of challenges that impact the gulf region is why our scholars are hard at work studying and formulating the future.

This week’s scholar is: Caleb Miggins

What is your name, hometown, and major?

Caleb Miggins, Ridgeland MS, Biomedical Engineering with emphasis in Biodevices and a Minor in Community Engaged Leadership

What interests you most about the Gulf Scholars Program?

What interests me most about the gulf scholar program is the ability to learn more about all the history that many people have forgotten through the years about how we have affected water systems and learning how to fix and not make the same mistakes.

What are you considering for your Gulf Impact Project?

I am considering trying to build a low cost testing system for the underserved communities.

What are you most excited to learn more about?

I am most excited to learn more about speakers' stories and tales from when they were alive and learn more about the history of the gulf coast.

What do you want to accomplish by the end of the program?

I want to accomplish making a big change to a community or creating a path for others to walk on so that they can build off me and help a wider community.
