Graduate Teaching Assistant

Sanjeev Parajuli is currently a PhD student and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Mississippi
(Ole Miss), a position he has held since January 2023. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Geology in 2014, followed by a Masters of Science in Engineering Geology in 2019, from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal. From 2015 to 2022, he worked as a consulting geologist on several significant national projects in Nepal.

Sanjeev's research interests primarily include tectonics, geomorphology, applied geophysics, and geologic hazards. His current work uses applied geophysical tools and geospatial methods to study ongoing neotectonic activities and recent changes in the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone (WVSZ). Specifically, he is using high-resolution LiDAR elevation data to help identify neotectonically generated fluvial anomalies and the locations of blind faults. In the next phase of his research, Sanjeev plans to conduct shallow geophysical measurements at those fluvial anomalies, along with core drilling, to examine if vertically displaced or deformed sediments can be identified and potentially age-dated.
