Rural Research Meeting

The Rural Research Meeting provides an academic environment to foster Rural Education and Rural Studies through a scholarly and academic exchange amongst those interested in advancing research in the field. The Rural Research Meeting addresses three goals of the University of Mississippi's strategic plan. It provides an increase in graduate education, by encouraging graduate students to grow in their scholarly writing and thinking. It allows the University of Mississippi to embrace new areas of expertise and engagement by advancing knowledge to our students and researchers by working with peer and experts in the field. Additionally, it increases the University's academic reputation through impactful, innovative research and creative achievement.

The meeting will include workshops dedicated to specific topics in rural research. An emphasis will be given to encourage emerging scholars to discuss and participate in research collaboration. It will also encourage researchers from various institutions to participate and provide expertise during workshop discussions.

Researchers can submit proposals in one of two categories:

Research In Progress: this category is for scholars who have a research idea that they need to work through with peers or that may benefit from early collaboration with other scholars.

Manuscript Development: This category is for scholars who will be ready to submit a draft manuscript for feedback from their peers just before start of RRM.

A special note for graduate students: Graduate students who are at the beginning of their research journeys may be especially interested in submitting to the Research In Progress Category.
