Evolutionary computation is the study and use of biologically-inspired evolution techniques for computing problems, allowing the approximation of an optimal solution to problems currently impossible to solve with traditional methods. This course will cover the basics of evolutionary computation, focusing primarily on genetic algorithms, the problems evolutionary computation can be used for, the modern-day uses of evolutionary computation, and the comparison of evolutionary algorithms with other state-of-the-art techniques for solving (or approximating a solution to) computationally-intensive problems.
The topic of this course is Evolutionary Computation.
This course counts as a coding intensive course for CSCI Graduate requirements.
